I don't seem to do much safe for work these days.. Hell, its been months in fact!

Have to see if I can do something about that

I've thought about it long and hard and talked to some other artists and decided I'm not going to do commissions just quite yet I'm afraid. I'm really sorry to those which have been asking and waiting, but I really don't have the confidence to do them yet and I was foolish into thinking I was ready for them :[
I'm afraid they are therefore on hold till further notice :/

On the bright side...

Before BronyCon I was tossing around the idea of making a NSFW portfolio thing and after coming back I've decided its something I would really like to have a go at doing. Basically the idea is to create a portfolio of 10/12 NSFW pictures featuring Rainbow Dash, hopefully the plan is to have this completed by mid-August at the latest; It's going well "so far" as I have 6 sketches which I'm going to use.    

I wanted to make it a free/donation thing, but I'll iron out the specifics when I'm done... Either way I was planning to make a bit of cash so I could waste it on some more Pony Plushies dohoho

Anyway,

Feel free to yell about this decision... Also if you have any idea's for outfits you'd like to see Dash in feel free to drop a suggestion in this post..

Oh, I forgot to mention that this decision does mean that any other art I do until this project is complete is going to be quite rare I'm afraid, so i apologize in advance for the lack of art!

So, now that i'm free from the tyranny that is University HOPEFULLY i can pretty much work on my art on a daily basis (until my parents make me get a job, ahaha)..

My main goals:

• Get faster


• Learn to colour


• Backgrounds


• Keep Moving Forward

I'm going to be doing lots of Rainbow Dash and hopefully some TwiDash as it's been so bloody long since I've done that.. I will then be moving onto Promised Art Trades and Promised pictures based on peoples stories.
My art's hopefully going to change slightly; I want to try new eyes, new hair/mane styles and most importantly improve my sodding terrible ass colouring! Grrr..

~Commissions~

I know a lot of people have been inquiring about commissions and I keep saying sometime in July.. Hopefully this is still the plan but i'm still unsure at the moment.. The trouble is pictures take me around 15-20hrs to complete and the last thing I want to be doing is spending that amount of time on a picture i'm not really interested in and no one but the commissioner is interested in (OC's)..
Hopefully, all going well, this month will allow me to get faster and if i can get it down to around 10hrs per picture then I'll be more willing to accept several commissions.  

I will warn in advance though:

• I WILL draw OC's


• I WILL do SFW/NSFW


• I WILL NOT ship or NSFW your OC with the mane 6 or other main characters and good background ponies like Vinyl Scratch

In regards to pricing, i'm unsure at the moment.. I shall do research on that.

Finally when I decide to accept commissions I'll make a new journal/post on tumblr!

On the Final note; I don't know how that last Rainbow Dash picture exploded in notes/favourites/popularity/rage .. Either way! Thanks for that :3 I do try to read all your comments! Sorry I don't comment to every single one!

Shortly after Christmas I made a post on my tumblr that I was finished with art; Although one of the reasons for this is personal it was not the main reason..

Back in Late October/November Slugbox drew his first ponies and instantly they blew me away.. Everything about them, the heads, the eyes, the lanky legs the slender bodies and that God damn amazing colouring.. They where/are bloody amazing.

Anyway..

I tried to carry on as normal, continuing with my regular old art style.. But it was no good, I was getting more and more angry and just plain embarrassed and sickened at the pictures I was producing and most importantly I stopped enjoying art.. Hell, what's the point when you don't like the pictures you draw right?

Somehow I managed to last till Christmas and after hundreds of failed attempts I managed to produce a picture in a similar style to Slugbox! Sadly, this attempt was shot down and really kicked my confidence but at the same time it was 'liked' by Slugbox himself which made me want to try again.
Next I managed to produce that Vinyl Scratch maid picture and the response just blew me away.. I HAD TO master this style, the proof was right there, its what the people wanted.. But in the back of my mind I was fighting with the fact that this style was out of my league and I have no idea what I'm doing.

I was fighting a battle I knew I couldn't win and I was growing tired, frustrated and angry again, I just didn't want to disappoint the people that followed me.. Finally the personal reason delivered the final blow and although I thought about it for almost a week I decided quitting was the best choice.

Well, nothing went to plan.. After that post I felt much better, the weight of having to draw to keep people interested and happy was lifted and although I 'stopped' I couldn't stop drawing. For about a month I was just going over Slugbox's sketches trying to home some sort of skills and it was helping.. Also, the many, MANY kind words people sent me to not give up, seriously I couldn't believe how many people cared and I'll be forever thankful for these comments.

And well, finally that brings me back to where I am now.

Right now I'm just going to work at a comfortable pace, I'm taking it slow, I'm trying to get better and faster and I'm slowly getting more confident and enjoying art again.. Just Please don't expect much from me for now.


My goal still stands at getting good enough and fast enough to draw peoples requests.. Let's just see if I'm ever able to do this..

So after attending JohnJoseco's streams and screaming "GOOD LORD THE SPEED!!"

I thought "Screw it" and bought one of those Wacom Cintiq's.

So, so much quicker to draw and colour, and just a nicer drawing experience overall... I've always had difficulty drawing looking at the monitor and not looking at my hand so it's just a God send to me. It's just a bit scary sometimes as you think your scratching it, but it seems OK so far.

My only complaint would be I did not suddenly become amazing

Anyway,

I keep watching a lot of stream's trying to see how others do it, especially the colouring now. It really helps people who are learning to draw like myself so I thank all the artists who kindly stream for everyone.

Drawing Schedule:

I dunno as I've started Uni... Just any free time i guess! I really suck at coming up with idea's at the moment, as in I can't think of anything to draw..
It's like "Ok, I want to draw Twilight and Dash.. Doing.. BLANKKKKKKKK" I can't think of poses or anything and it's getting harder and harder to do something which hasn't been done, and that is within my skill level.
So when i find peoples rough sketches it's like... "YES! I'll do that!"


Anyway, that's enough of a ramble.

Long story short..

Was asked to do some commissions *Cough-cough requests*, so I did! The first two went well, I'm really pleased with them..  The final one on the other hand, well.. Nearly 4 weeks of trying and 17 pictures later. Nothing..

Scrapped after scrapped, they all suck.

My patience is wearing thin, confidence is slipping and the desire to draw is almost non-existent.  


People have noted me regarding requests/commissions and I've been holding off replying in the hope I would recover..
But this just isn't going to happen, at least not for anytime soon.. Apologies for those who waited.


So, I'm packing it in..

I'll keep doodling in attempt to someday return.. But for now I cannot afford to keep sitting here night after night drawing **** trying to make that happen.

Hell, I do webapps and databases for goodness sake, I'm not an artist!!

Still not to sure, I read a story the other day about Spitfire and Rainbow Dash called "With a Spark".. One of the best stories I think I've read.. But it left me so angry, raged, sad upset and confused! It's still lingering in my mind several days on!

Very tempted to draw some stuff from it, just all i can think of is Rainbow Dash kicking Spitfires ***

So, I've been watching a lot of the "Kloudmutt" and "MS" live drawing sessions lately, till the wee hours of the morning I might add and I must say.. I tip my hat to their amazing skills.

Kloudmutt is just so insanely quick at doing a sketch and I'm just amazed full stop how MS can draw in flash like that.
